The KitchenAid manufactures mainly two types of stand mixers:
Tilt Head Stand Mixer and Bowl Lift Stand Mixer.
Within these two types of mixers, there are several different series including Artisan, Classic, Mini, Pro line series, and also customized mixers.

Popular Comparison:

The Mini series are designed for making small batches for 1 to 2 persons; the Pro line series are perfect for mixing denser ingredients, making large batches for a crowd; while the Artisan is good for families and every day cooks.

There are also sub series and many models within each series. It is easy to get confused by those similar mixer models. Let’s go deeper to make it clear.
Commonly, the last 2 letters of a model# stand for color, the letters before these 2 letters and after the numbers usually indicate what attachments are included or special features. Let’s take the Artisan series model KSM150FEAQ and KSM150PSER for example, the “AQ” stand for Aqua Sky color, “FE” means this model comes with a Flex Edge Beater besides the standard attachment package (a Flat Beater, a Dough Hook, and a Wire Whip); the “ER” stands for Empire Red, “PS” means this model comes with a Pouring Shield besides the standard attachment package.

A simple comparison table to show the main differences between the Kitchenaid mixers.
